On September 5, 2024, the Jefferson County School District celebrated the incredible generosity of Mr. Peter E. Walker and his family, who donated nearly $33,000 to purchase a digital message board for Jefferson County High School. This digital message board is not just a gift but a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, who also served in our district, and to his beloved son, a former scholar whose memory will forever remain in our hearts.

This prestigious designation is awarded to schools that have trained teachers in the science of reading, transformed instructional practices, and created a school culture dedicated to building skillful, strong readers from kindergarten through third grade.
